DIY Coffee Scrub

Pursuing a zero-waste lifestyle is all about finding ways to reduce and reuse anything in our daily lives that could end up in a landfill. One of my favorite #zerowaste tips is also a great beauty tip: Repurpose your coffee grounds into an easy and super effective DIY body scrub. In addition to the physical exfoliant of the grounds the caffeine content in coffee is also really good at combating cellulite by stimulating and tightening the skin. It's so easy to make too! Just mix together in a bowl or jar 1/2 cup of used coffee grounds + 1/4 cup brown sugar or salt + 1/4 cup of coconut oil and voila! You can use this scrub immediately and store the leftovers in the fridge for up to two weeks to prevent molding (no preservatives so this is necessary). Promise once you try making it yourself you'll never have to spend $30 on a jarred scrub again. Zero-waste, budget friendly, and great for your skin is a win-win-win in our book! Give it a try and tell us how it goes!

DIY Coffee Scrub

1/2 cup used coffee grounds

1/4 cup brown sugar or salt

1/4 cup coconut oil

Mix well together in a bowl or jar. Store in fridge for up to two weeks.

**Note: One thing to keep in mind is that this is a scrub meant for the body not the face. Harsh physical exfoliants should never be used on the face, only soft exfoliants like jojoba beads or natural chemicals like fruit enzymes.
